Fiber optics for the first deliveries of Hägglunds BvS10 all-terrain vehicles

BAE Systems Hägglunds has delivered the very first BvS10 all-terrain vehicles to Sweden, Germany and the UK as part of the Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV) program. Micropol has been chosen to deliver the fiber optics for the Swedish vehicles in CATV program which include 236 vehicles with deliveries until 2028.

"We’re proud to contribute to these vehicles with our fiber optic solutions. Reliable communication is critical in demanding environments – from Arctic conditions to deep forests – and that’s exactly what our technology is designed for"

– We’re proud to contribute to these vehicles with our fiber optic solutions. Reliable communication is critical in demanding environments – from Arctic conditions to deep forests – and that’s exactly what our technology is designed for, says Patrik Andersson, Business Development Director, Micropol Fiberoptic. Seeing the first deliveries is an important milestone, and we look forward to continuing to support this program as it develops over the coming years, Andersson continues.

The BvS10 is world-leading when it comes to all-terrain solutions. The articulated mobility system provides optimal maneuverability across varying terrains to traverse snow, ice, rock, sand, mud or swamps, as well as steep mountain environments. The vehicle’s amphibious feature also allows it to swim in flooded areas or coastal waters. It can deliver personnel and supplies to sustain strategic, tactical, and operational mobility.

Micropol´s scope of delivery is the tactical fiber optics for the vehicles ordered by the Swedish Armed forces. All Swedish vehicle are specified with the FALCON expanded beam contact, known for its world leading transfer speeds and low attenuation. The FALCON expanded beam connector allow all the vehicles easy access to the Swedish Armed Forces tactical fiber optical network, FOKS. The FOKS system is used to share information and data securely between different tactical units.
