TRML-4D Radar uses the latest Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar technology with multiple digitally shaped beams. It is capable of detecting, tracking, and classifying various types of aerial targets, with a focus on small, fast, low-flying, and/or maneuvering cruise missiles, aircraft, and helicopters. It ensures the rapid detection and tracking of about 1,500 targets in a radius of up to 250 km.
Micropol has been involved in the TRML-4D project for years. The fiberoptics provided by Micropol serve as the tactical backbone in the TRML-4D system, allowing the radar to send huge amounts of data through its fiber cables to its connected air defence systems, e.g., IRIS-T SLM or other air defence systems.
"Micropol’s fiber solutions form the backbone of HENSOLDT’s TRML-4D radar, ensuring reliable high-speed data transmission in demanding environments."
- Markus Wiedenhorn, Head of Business Procurement Multi Domain Solutions at HENSOLDT
The TRML-4D radar is equipped with Micropols FALCON expanded beam connectors designed to cope with the harshest environments. They have low signal attenuation at < 1,2 dB guaranteeing long cable lengths between the different parts of the air defence systems, which is crucial to the safety of the operators of the air defence system.
For the deployment of the fiber optic cables HENSOLDT uses Micropols Tactical Backpack. The backpack allows for quick deployment and rewinding of the heavy-duty fiber optic cable.
