A reference fiber is a passive optical component, complementary to OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) for the testing of a fiber optic link. It is made of a coiled optical fiber and it helps eliminate the OTDR “dead zone area”.

This high-quality armoured fiber is an innovative solution to facilitate the activities of the installers. It guarantees high cable protection and easy handling. The reference fiber is small and can be held with one hand. The external connectorized cable length can easily be adjusted by the user. It is 100% tested and certified and it comes with connectors that provide an insertion loss lower than 0.25 dB.

All types of connectors

The reference fiber is clearly marked and measurement protocol and interferometer protocol are supplied. Each case is individually numbered and all measurement data is saved in Micropol’s database. Relevant protocols are updated in the event of repair/replacement of connectors. Other types of reference fiber are also manufactured. Use the reference fiber with your choice of fiber and connectors.
