The FALCON connectors have the best optical performance on the market. This is achieved with Micropol’s lens technology, state of the art production and alignment process.

The FALCON Mini Plug is the smallest expanded beam connector available on the market today. It can be configured with single-mode or multi-mode from 1 channel to 4 channels.

Like the other connectors in the FALCON family, it is compatible with other mini-size expanded beam connectors on the market.

Features

  • Advanced expanded beam technology
  • Hermaphroditic interconnection
  • 1 to 4 fiber channels single-mode or multi-mode
  • No adaptors needed
  • Low downtime field repair
  • Easy clean, no special tools

The FALCON Mini Plug is a mini-size compact expanded beam plug, available in configurations with 1–4 channels and designed for heavy-duty tactical applications.

This plug mates directly with tactical fiber-optic cables fitted with other mini-size expanded beam bulkhead receptacles. It is equipped with high performance strain relief and a protective boot, providing the robustness required for demanding field deployments.

The FALCON Mini Plug can be daisy-chained into long overall cable lengths suitable for temporary field communications, and its rugged design makes it durable even in harsh conditions. The plug is often supplied on a cable reel or backpack system with fiber-optic cable spooled on a drum.

A common application for the Mini Plug is the interconnection of dispersed units in air-defense systems. The connector is also used for secure communications in industry, shipping, and offshore environments with exposed outdoor connector points.

How to clean the expanded beam connector?

This instruction covers the cleaning procedure for the expanded beam (EB) connectors and its optical interface (mating face, optical path lenses, EB insert and alignment features). These connectors are non-contacting; therefore, mating the connector without cleaning first typically will not cause permanent damage to the optic interface.

What is an Expanded Beam Connector?

The fiber optic technology allows a large amount of data to be transferred with low insertion loss even in harsh environments, without risk of damage to the fiber. The Expanded Beam Connector is used in several harsh environments such as mining, transportation systems, outside broadcasting, offshore and subsea, and in different types of industries.
